2008 Chapter Awards

Robert Frazer Memorial Award

The Robert Frazer Memorial Award is given in memory of Robert Frazer who was a Division 3 officials with the Amarillo Chapter, Texas Football Officials Association. The award is given annually to an official who has been officiating for at least 10 years and has demonstrated an excellence in officiating. Additionally, chapter service is a pre-requisite for nomination of this award.

 
Mike Hunter is the 2008 Robert Frazer Memorial Award winner.  He began officiating football in 1986.He is the Referee and Crew Chief of a crew. Mike has served the chapter in many aspects, President, Vice President and Secretary.

Jerry Murphy Memorial Award

The Jerry Murphy Memorial Award is given in memory of Jerry Murphy, a Division 3 Official with the Amarillo Chapter, Texas Football Officials Association. The award is given annually to the Division 4-5 official who has demonstrated the most improvement as an official.

 
Michael Hooten

The 2008 Jerry Murphy Memorial Award  was presented to Michael Hooten. Michael  began officiating football in 2006. He is employed by Texas Tech University Health Sciences. Michael assisted in all the programs this year by obtaining the TTUHSC Auditorium for our meetings.


Bobby Poole Memorial Award

The Bobby Poole Memorial Award is given in memory of Bobby Poole, a Division 5 official with the Amarillo Chapter, Texas Football Officials Association, who was killed enroute from a varsity game assignment. The award is given annually to the Outstanding First Year Official of the Amarillo Chapter.


Mike Bressler

Mike Bressler is the 2008 recipient of the Bobby Poole Memorial Award as the Outstanding First Year Official. 

James Kile Award

The James Kile Award was established in 2004 and sponsored by Buck's Sporting Goods. The award will be presented annually to the official that demonstrates excellence in football officiating desire, enthusiasm and dedication.


Jerry Lawlis

The fifth recipient of the James Kile Award is Jerry Lawlis.  Jerry began officiating in the '60's. He came to the Amarillo Chapter in 1976, later,  moved to Colorado where he called for 10 years. Since his return, Jerry has devoted a large amount of his time to the training of officials in the Amarillo Chapter
